Following their Q1 2025 All-Hands Meeting, Tesla subtly updated the Cybertruck’s webpage, initially appearing to be a simple stylistic refresh. However, a closer inspection revealed a significant change to Sentry Mode: it will soon play music at maximum volume when triggered.
Sentry Mode Gets a Musical Upgrade
Tesla quietly added new text to the Cybertruck’s Sentry Mode section, stating: “Enable Sentry Mode to monitor your unattended vehicle or trailer, and automatically activate the alarm, increase the touchscreen brightness, and play music at max volume if a threat is detected.”
This addition of loud music is a novel feature for Sentry Mode. Building on previous enhancements like trailer monitoring and potential honking, this update leverages the Cybertruck’s Superhorn and external speaker, already used for the Boombox feature. It’s expected that the external speakers, rather than the internal ones, will be utilized for maximum impact.
The Superhorn and external speakers, powerful enough for a standard horn, could serve as an effective deterrent against vandals and intruders.
It’s worth noting that Sentry Mode currently plays Bach through the internal speakers when the alarm is triggered. However, the Cybertruck webpage’s description suggests a distinct, louder external music feature.
Will This Feature Extend to Other Tesla Models?
While initially found on the Cybertruck’s page, this feature is likely to be rolled out to other Tesla models equipped with an external speaker for the Pedestrian Warning System (PWS), which also supports the Boombox functionality. Therefore, if your Tesla supports Boombox, it’s highly probable that Sentry Mode Music will be available post-update. Legacy vehicles without a PWS may miss out.
Update: Notably, models like the new Model 3 also feature the Superhorn, combining the traditional horn and PWS speaker into a single external unit.
This feature is not included in the recently released 2025.8 update. Given Tesla’s pattern of larger Spring Updates, it’s speculated that this Sentry Mode Music feature could be part of the upcoming spring release.
Speculation also arises regarding the potential for custom sounds or music via USB, which would significantly enhance the entertainment aspect of this feature.
